Small agribusinesses across Tanzania continue to reap the rewards of targeted training, coaching and mentorship services offered by TAPPBDS which transform their operations and expand their market reach. As implementing partners of the Business Development Entrepreneurship Coaching (BDEC) project under NAFAKA Kilimo, SMEs (AMCOS, Farmer Organizations and Agrodealers) have benefited from the training, coaching and mentoring services leading to the increase in their financial transparency, strategic growth and job creation.
One of the examples is Muradi Nchimbi, an agro dealer from Mahenge – Kilolo who after the training has adopted a new financial recording system which now helps in increasing transparency, accuracy of data leading to making of informed decisions. Similarly, Dorah Mkehele, an agro dealer from Mafinga, Nyololo, credits her mentor’s guidance for her ability to expand farming input business — a move that has led her to establish 3 new branches and expand her customer base. The impact extends beyond individual entrepreneurs, other agro dealers like Filomena Msigwa made a decision to hire a salesperson, that has allowed her to focus on expansion while maintaining consistent service for customers.
Even cooperatives are seeing change. Nyololo Women AMCOS, once hesitant about structured financial record-keeping, now uses official accounting books, earning them recognition from the Iringa Farmers’ Cooperative Union (IFCU) as one of the most efficient and trustworthy groups in fertilizer distribution.
Beyond improved management, financial empowerment is also taking shape. Muungano AMCOS in Kilolo District, Mtitu Village, has secured a TZS 33 million loan for agricultural input purchases, a feat made possible by its new supplier connections through IFCU.
With structured support and guidance, these Farmer Service Centres are not just improving their businesses — they are creating jobs, expanding market reach, and redefining agricultural commerce in Tanzania. Their success stories underscore TAPBDS’s transformative power of training, mentorship, and strategic financial planning in fostering sustainable growth in the agribusiness sector.
