Dodoma, Tanzania – As part of efforts to advance agricultural mechanization and empower youth; TAPBDS, in collaboration with Reliance Group Limited, has accredited 29 young individuals from Morogoro, Singida, and Dodoma as certified agri-equipment sales informants.

This initiative followed a comprehensive needs assessment at Reliance Group Limited, which identified limited sales staff as a significant challenge affecting the promotion and distribution of agricultural machinery to the farmers. To address this, a customized intervention was designed to equip youth with both technical and commercial knowledge of agricultural equipment.Technical training included key skills in operations, maintenance, and repair of the equipment.

The newly accredited informants, comprising 8 men and 21 women, have undergone intensive training on Reliance Group’s range of agricultural machinery and equipment. Upon completing the program, all participants signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), formalizing their roles under a structured commission-based model. This model incentivizes their efforts by offering attractive commissions: TZS 1,000,000 for the sale of a new tractor with horsepower ranging from 45 to 110, and TZS 500,000 for tractors with 18 or 26 horsepower.

This groundbreaking initiative not only enhances the employability of Tanzanian youth by equipping them with market-driven skills but also strategically positions them within the country’s growing agribusiness sector. By bridging connections with mechanization service providers and financial institutions, the program fosters sustainable pathways for youth employment and economic growth.

TAPBDS remains committed to forging partnerships that expand job creation opportunities for youth, with a particular focus on empowering young women in the mechanization sub-sector.
