13 SMEs from Kigoma, Katavi, Rukwa, and Tabora came together in Mpanda District, Katavi Region, for the RE-GAIN Project’s Western Zone MSME FL-RS Training and Financial Linkage session. The goal was straightforward: help business owners understand the models available to them, and put them directly in the room with the equipment suppliers and financial institutions who could actually help them grow. ImaraTech and InterMech walked participants through business models for MCT, maize shellers, and paddy threshers, showing how the right equipment could open up new opportunities in the agricultural value chain. CRDB Bank then took participants through the FL-RS financing options on the table, giving SMEs a clearer picture of how they could actually fund the equipment they needed.
The response spoke for itself. Nine SMEs left ready to commit 90% upfront for Model 2 acquisition a strong signal of how seriously these businesses are taking the opportunity in front of them. Two more SMEs raised their hands for loans to support equipment purchases and other business needs, and CRDB Bank didn’t leave it there: they committed to a follow up Zoom call to work through loan requirements and figure out financing that actually fits.
What this training really showed is what happens when SMEs, suppliers, and banks sit at the same table instead of working in separate lanes. Getting access to the right equipment and the right financing is one of the biggest hurdles’ small businesses face, and the RE-GAIN Project is chipping away at it giving MSMEs the knowledge and the connections to make smarter investment decisions. The real work now is turning that momentum into signed deals, funded equipment, and businesses that are stronger a year from now than they are today.
