In Iringa, TAPBDS Company Limited and the Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO-Iringa) collaborated to train 63 youth on agricultural mechanization through the YEFFA project. This training equipped participants with essential machine operation and maintenance skills, fostering a skilled workforce to drive agri-business growth.

To enhance access to mechanization services, TAPBDS is connecting these youth with local suppliers of agricultural machinery and spare parts. This crucial step bridges the gap between skilled labor and available equipment, fostering youth employment and increased access to mechanization for farmers.

To further enhance agricultural productivity, Pawaga Village Warehouse has integrated a diverse range of agricultural machinery into its operations. This includes locally manufactured equipment from SIDO alongside imported power tillers from Agricom and other suppliers. This diversified approach improves the efficiency of local rice production.

To strengthen mechanization and value addition, youth groups comprising five members are encouraged to submit proposals to SIDO for the acquisition of rice packaging machines. This initiative empowers youth groups to engage in post-harvest activities, enhancing their involvement in the entire agricultural value chain.

This collaborative approach, involving training, equipment access, and value chain integration, demonstrates a significant step towards promoting youth employment and enhancing agricultural productivity in the Iringa region.
