This week as part of its role under the YEFFA Project in Tanzania, TAPBDS organized series of mechanization demonstration events in Kagera, Morogoro and Rukwa targeting the youth, particularly young women. A total of 149 youth participated, including 112 young women. Mechanization equipment suppliers, such as Bliss Agro and Wezesha showcased a range of technologies, including furrow irrigation, multipurpose seed planters, conservation tillers and drip and sprinkler irrigation systems. The youth received hands-on training in installation and the practical use of these equipment.
This investment aims to create 88 new jobs linking employment opportunities directly to each piece of equipment sold. Job pathways include installation, operation, servicing as well as entrepreneurship for those who acquire equipment to establish mechanization service enterprises. TAPBDS plays a key role in catalysing investment within the mechanization sub-sector by fostering essential interactions across the ecosystem. This include working with suppliers to present strong business cases for each piece of equipment and ensuring the business cases appeal to youth especially young women. Also making sure that the cases are attractive to the financiers and capable of attracting support from local government.
