In Songea, a young woman (name withheld for editorial reasons) who served as a Village-Based Advisor has reached a life-changing milestone by completing the construction of her family house with income earned from the implementation of data-driven agricultural methods supported by TAPBDS.
Speaking about the power of data driven decision making, the Head of Programs at TAPBDS, Mr. Deodat Bernard stated that the young woman’s role was to record farmers’ input demands on a digital platform using her mobile phone, linking them with agro-dealers through which she earned a commission of over five million Tanzanian shillings. Her success underscores the potential of TAPBDS’s data-focused approach to agricultural transformation in Tanzania and in the region.
This success story is one of TAPBDS achievements in supporting agri-SMEs, farmers, input suppliers, and buyers with data-driven decision-making training and tools. Through technology adoption initiatives, TAPBDS empowers agribusinesses to respond to real-time market needs, reducing resource waste and increasing profitability.
“Without data, we cannot truly understand and meet market demand,” says Mr. Deodat Bernard. “This approach does not only strengthen businesses but also builds trust across the supply chain, inviting financial providers to support agricultural growth” he added.
As data becomes a critical component of Tanzania’s economic sector, TAPBDS invites SMEs and stakeholders for collaboration in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, and service sectors to embrace data-driven decision-making. The organization remains committed to fostering growth across Tanzania and the region, offering technical support and resources to help businesses and communities achieve greater resilience and economic success.
