In a strategic move to combat food loss and build climate resilience in Tanzania’s agricultural sector, the TAPBDS team participated in a pivotal sense-making workshop hosted by AGRA in September at Kibo Palace Hotel in Arusha. The primary objective of the workshop was to review and validate the baseline survey report for the REGAIN project, a critical step that provides the benchmark data needed to measure the project’s future impact.
This foundational work is essential for the success of the REGAIN project, which is focused on creating sustainable, systemic change. The project’s core goals are to introduce and scale up Food Loss Reduction Solutions, support farmers in adapting to climate change, and ultimately strengthen food security across Africa, with a dedicated focus on Tanzania.
As articulated during the workshop, the mission is clear: Lengo kuu ni kupunguza upotevu wa chakula (Food Loss Reduction Solutions), kumsaidia mkulima kukabiliana na mabadiliko ya tabianchi, na kuimarisha usalama wa chakula barani Afrika – ikiwemo hapa Tanzania. (The main goal is to reduce food loss, help farmers cope with climate change, and strengthen food security in Africa including here in Tanzania). TAPBDS’s participation ensures that our on-the-ground expertise contributes to shaping a data-driven and impactful project from its very inception.
