On November 1, 2024, participants from the business sector gathered for a virtual training session hosted by TAPBDS, focusing on Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) E-Filing and the process of submitting tax returns online.
A study shows that many SME owners find the TRA e-filing system challenging, with 30% reporting a lack of training or resources to use it effectively. Additionally, the Tanzania Cybersecurity Alliance (TCA) in 2022 found that 38% of users are concerned about data security, affecting trust in the system. In a 2023 TRA feedback report, the system’s complex interface, requiring multiple steps, posed difficulties, with 60% of users indicating they struggled to navigate it without guidance-highlighting the need for a simpler, more user-friendly design.
In the recent training which attracted a range of participants, including business owners, accountants, finance professionals, and others keen to learn about e-filing, TAPBDS experts shared essential knowledge on e-filing fundamentals, step-by-step system guidance, compliance tips, and security measures. The interactive session enabled participants to engage directly with the expert, who addressed questions in real-time, enhancing their confidence and capability to use the system effectively.
Held via Zoom from 10 AM to 12 PM, the learning objectives were met with enthusiasm, and attendees expressed their appreciation for the insights they gained, which would undoubtedly assist them in navigating the E-Filing system more effectively.
